Error on importing FBX to FaceFX Studio 2015 No Save

Hello All!

When I import my FBX that was created in Maya using BlendShapes, it gets to 5% and then error.

Steps:

1) Open FaceFX Studio 2015 No Save
2) Drag and Drop my FBX into the middle
3) Choose Batch-Export.txt file
Get error "ExecFxOgreFBX.exe has stopped working"
After closing that, I get the output console
Import Failed! Check the log.... fbximporter-log.txt

And the log states:
logfilename: C:\Users\NotSure\Documents\FaceFX Studio 2015\Logs\20141016092300011-fbximporter-log.txt
animation name: facefx_poses
fbx file: C:\Users\NotSure\Downloads\SnarfFaceFX.fbx
FBX SDK version number: 7.4.0
FBX file version number: 7.1.0
copyUniqueTextures: true
Bind frame specified: 0. FBX bind pose information will be ignored.
Mesh file: C:\Users\NotSure\Documents\FaceFX Studio 2015\Ogre\Resources\FBXImporterCache\1eeec871874f35756af40d198a03d566.MESH
Exporting bind pose.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

[EDIT]
I am using Autodesk FBX Review to verify the model, and it works fine with the animations.

Thanks for posting. Can you send the FBX file to us?

The first thing to check is that the FBX file can open without crashing 3D Studio Max and/or Maya. If it crashes there, it's probably a problem with the FBX file.

Assuming that test passes, you can try to drag the FBX file onto the ExecFxOgreFBX.exe file in your Studio installation folder. If it works, a bunch of Ogre files (.MESH, .SKELETON, .SCENE. .MATERIAL) will be created in your FBX folder (make sure you have write permission to that folder). I'm guessing it will crash there too. But if that works, it would indicate a problem within the python plugin in FaceFX Studio.

Assuming ExecFxOgreFBX.exe crashes, we'd need a copy of the FBX file to reproduce the problem here and fix it.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I set the ExecFxOgreFBX.exe to run in Admin mode since by default it didn't allow creation of files.

I dragged my FBX onto the ExecFxOgreFBX.exe and it gave the same error posted in the log.

It does open fine in Maya and FBX Review.

What email would you like me to send the file to?

Thanks!

Thanks for sending the file! This is a bug in ExecFxOgreFBX.. You can work around the issue by importing/exporting the FBX file in Max or Maya, or by applying the below patch:

Replace the FxOgreFBX.dll file in your studio installation folder with this one:

http://temporary.facefx.com.s3.amazonaws.com/FxOgreFBX.dll

Thanks for pointing this out, we'll get this patch applied to FaceFX 2015.1 when we release it.

Thanks. It is also working on my end now also. I'm using Maya, so you need to say File->Export All and not Export Selection. Also make sure you have "Autodesk Media & Entertainment" in the Presets selected during FBX Export.

Thanks for the quick posting of a patch and the email assistance! Great customer service!
